Abdullah Abdurahman family papers, 1906-1962 (inclusive), [microform].

Correspondence, newspaper clippings, speeches, organizational records, campaign literature, biographical material, and photographs of Abdullah Abdurahman, his first wife, Helen, and his daughter, Mrs. Zainunnissa Gool. Dr. Abdurahman was a physician active in South African politics, and the founder of the South African and Coloured People's Organization. Both his wife and daughter were also active in the struggle for equality for blacks, and especially for so-called coloureds. The papers include correspondence of all three members of the family, literature from many of the organizations in which they participated and campaign literature and other material documenting Mrs. Gool's service on the Cape Town City Council.

Abdullah Abdurahman was born December 18, 1872? in Cape Town, South Africa. He married Helen Potter James and they had two children, of whom the younger, Zainunnissa Abdurahman, like her father, was a prominent figure in Cape Town municipal affairs.
